Here at St George's, we believe that schools have the power to change a child’s life and create a fairer society. We build oracy into our curriculum, teaching and learning and wider school life. Oracy is the ability to articulate ideas, develop understanding and engage with others through spoken language and listening. Oracy skills set children up for success in school and life. Oracy is an integral part of our Talk for Writing scheme used here at St George's and is a key reason that we chose this scheme for our school. Through daily activities our students are learning through talking and also learning how to talk.
Please enjoy our home / school Talking Tuesday questions for families to share this 2026 Summer term. Please look at the bottom of the page for our weekly conversation starters and a letter explaining the activity.
Please see some of the talking strategies that we are using throughout school.
