Welcome to the Year 5 & 6 Class page!
The children are maturing their skills in English and maths enabling them to progress well in their work, either independently or as part of a team.
This half term in our topic work, we are studying the plague village of Eyam and are hoping to visit it. Our shared book is ‘Kiss of Death’ by Malcolm Rose, which tells the story of Eyam in the time of the plague, starting with the sacrifice the brave people of Eyam made, then bringing the story up to date in a modern thriller with lessons to learn about honesty and kindness to others.
Parents and carers are welcome to visit our classroom for story-time each Tuesday afternoon from 2.55pm, to catch the next thrilling installment!
Homework for the next two terms will be slightly different for Mrs Redfearn. Year 5 children will have a choice of topic tasks, which are based on our topic of Eyam. Year 6 children will have a choice of SATs questions which will be given to them each Monday although they are more than welcome to complete any of the Eyam tasks too. Mrs Brown’s homework will continue as normal.
Whilst Y5 children in our class are continuing with their Spelling Shed homework and spellings this half term, Y6 children will now be learning spellings from the Y5-6 spelling list (below).
