Lee baker is a Police Community Support Officer Supervisor for the High Peak area.
‘I’m passionate about supporting young people in our communities and see the benefit in good education forming the foundations of their future development.’

Mrs C Tiffany (Foundation Governor)

‘I have been a Foundation Parent Governor since 2013 and I am currently Vice Chair.  I have a background in education, having previously worked as a primary school teacher in Coventry.  I currently work as a Pupil Premium TA and coordinator at St George’s, a job which I very much enjoy.  I have two children, both of whom attended St George’s. As a parent I am very happy with the care and education they received. It is a privilege to work with such a good team of Governors who I feel work hard to support the leadership of the school.’

Mrs G Bowers (Foundation Governor)

Gwyn has lived in the area 40 years and her children were all educated in New Mills. She attends St George’s Parish Church.
‘I believe being a Governor is very fulfilling and worthwhile. I wanted to try and help the children in the school and thought being a Governor would be a good way to go about this.’

Mrs C-A Harper (Parent Governor)

Catie-anne is a Volunteer Outreach Worker and teaching assistant at New Mills High School. She is also a parent of two children at St George’s and member of Revive Church.

I volunteered to be a parent governor because I wanted to support the school and invest into the local children’s provisions. As a member of the governing body it is a small part but vital for overseeing the wider picture of school life. I am thankful for the nominations and the support of parents to be able to use my skills in such a rewarding role.

Mr S Lomas (Parent Governor)

Simon is a parent and a children’s pastoral worker in New Mills. He has lived in the area all his life. ‘I wanted to be a Governor as there is no better investment we can make than into the life of a child.

Mrs G Tarr (Foundation Governor)

Gen has lived in New Mills since she was 18. She worked at Swizzels for 25 years and volunteered at Oxfam for 15 years. She set up the community care foodie friends amongst other projects.

When Gen’s husband died she became involved with St George’s Church and jumped at the chance to become a Governor at the school. She loves children and cares about the future of the children at St George’s.
