New Mills Toy Library

New Mills Toy Library is open every Monday during term time (including most Inset days) from 9.45am-11.30am in St George’s School hall.

We offer a Stay and Play facility and toy loans for a minimal joining fee of £3.00 which includes both your first stay and play session and toy loan, thereafter we charge £1.50 per session + toy loan and a loyalty stamp, once you have six stamps you will receive a FREE session.

From Monday 7th November we will be serving hot chocolate and toast to warm you through on these winter mornings that are only round the corner as well as the usual teas and coffees.

We have some new toys for you to loan so why not come along to one of our sessions and have a look round.

If you need to contact us at all you can leave a message on our Facebook page, email us or leave a message with the school office and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Thanks

Dear Parents/Carers

Firstly let us introduce ourselves formally, your Toy Library volunteers are:-

Miss Victoria Park (Chairperson)

Miss Janice Pelham (Vice Chairperson)

Mrs Kathy Pelham (Volunteer)

Ms Caroline Park (Volunteer)

Please feel free to speak to any of us at any time if you have any queries.

New Mills Toy Library has been open to the public for over two and a half years now and all this is thanks to our volunteers and members with a special thanks to Mr. Thomas and St George’s School for the use of their premises.

We are the only Toy Library, along with Glossop, within the High Peak area. Our next nearest are Belper or Crich, so we strive to provide you with an excellent service.

All Toy Library volunteers are CRB checked in order to protect parents/carers and their children when visiting us. We are members of the Derbyshire Toy Libraries Network and National Association of Toy and Leisure Libraries (NATLL). In addition to this we are working towards an award in Quality Play Matters.

We have now extended our opening times to include a Thursday afternoon session along-side Sure Start in our Nursery (St George’s) where we will have a selection of hand picked toys for you to choose from. However if you would like to see our full range of toys please come along to our original Monday sessions in the school hall from 9.45 to 11.30 or after school on a Thursday from 3.15-4.00pm (term times only) where our very popular ‘Wow’ toys are, along with jigsaws, games, sensory toys, heuristic play and many, many more. Our age range for toys are approximately birth -11 years.

We are always looking for volunteers for the Toy Library and if you think you might be interested in becoming one, please have a word with either Vicky or Janice mentioned above.

 Thank you.

St. George’s Primary hosts the town’s Toy Library!

It all happens on a Monday morning, in term time, from 9.45 a.m. – 11.30 a.m. in our school hall.  The session is an excellent opportunity for parents and carers to bring their children for a ‘stay and play’ time, as well as borrowing from a vast selection of brand new toys and games.

Our Toy Library team, all volunteers, are friendly and helpful and would be pleased to see you!

The cost of joining and borrowing a toy are kept to minimum.

 New parents/carers welcome!

Parent and Toddler Session

On Thursday afternoon, in term time, from 1.00 p.m. – 3.00 p.m. the school hosts a Parent & Toddler session as part of the New Mills Children’s Centre service.  It’s held in our Nursery classroom and led by staff from the Children’s Centre.  Do come along and give it a try.  It is a busy and vibrant session within the safety of our Nursery classroom and play area.
