Key Steps has been designed to give children an introduction to gymnastics. Each year, competitions take place around the country for children to show off their skills in floor, vault and body management routines. On 21st March, children in year 1 and year 2 were invited to New Mills Leisure Centre to try a taster session, along with other schools from around New Mills. As you can see from the photographs, they had a great time and were able to show off what they had learnt.
Well done to all the children in Mrs Townsend’s class who led our worship this afternoon. We learnt all about toys from previous decades right up to present day. The children remembered and said their lines perfectly and showed us their ideas for the toys that might exist in the future. Mrs Brown admitted that she recognised some of the toys from her childhood (but she wouldn’t say which ones). Look out for the photo of the staff dressing up for the day!
Today, the junior classes were treated to the dress rehearsal of this year’ infant nativity – A Miracle In Town. Mary, Joseph and all the other usual characters were present in an extravaganza of music, dance and acting. Well done to all the infant children, all of them taking a full and active role in this annual treat.

All the new children who have started in reception have settled in well. We have started our topic where it is all about houses and homes. We will be comparing our own houses with other peoples, looking at houses in other counties and what grannies’ houses were like.
Our new topic is ‘Where does the wind come from?’. We have been doing experiments to see if we can see and measure the wind.
